The Rockies shocked everyone by drafting a projected reliever with the 8th pick in the 2007 Draft. Casey Weathers is trying to make the Rockies look smart. As Jack Etkin writes in this BaseballAmerica Organization Report, Weathers is expected to move through the ranks very quickly. He could get the call-up to the bigs as early as late this season setting up Corpas or Fuentes. While he won’t have any fantasy value this season, keep an eye on him next season. The Rockies consider him their future closer.
In this Minor League Report, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports that Weathers is having to make the adjustment to increased competition. He seems to be making the transition just fine.
